Automatic Copyright v Registered Copyright

Protect Your Creative Work with a Registered Copyright!

Copyright protection starts automatically when a work is created, so you don't need to register it. But, registering your work has many benefits, so it's a good idea if you can do it.
  1. Creates a Public Record

Registration creates a public record of your copyright, showing that you own the work and it is protected. This helps others who want to use your work to understand its status and contact you.
  2. Acknolwedgement of your work

it makes it easier for others to find and acknowledge your work
  3. Evidence of Validity

Registration serves as proof that your copyright is valid. This can be crucial if there is a legal dispute over copyright infringement involving your work.
  4. Bringing an infrigement claim

Registration allows you to sue for copyright infringement in federal court. You need to register your work before you can legally challenge someone for using it without permission, even if the infringement has already happened.
